The rooms live northeast, and in numbers. Duluth and Doraville are strung along the Buford Highway corridor, where DoReMi, Luxor and RED Lounge sit within a few minutes of each other. Most of the metro's seven-night venues are here, and many of them keep their rooms going long after the intown bars have called last song.

Inside the Perimeter the format flips to open mic, and none of it is ordinary. Moondogs in Buckhead sings Thursday to Saturday, well into the small hours. Sister Louisa's Church hands you a choir robe and a live organist. The Clermont Lounge takes Tuesdays. Buford Highway keeps the rooms

Follow Buford Highway southwest from Duluth and the rooms keep coming. Hangbok - Happy Karaoke runs seven nights, and keeps going latest on Friday and Saturday. In Doraville, Sapphire Karaoke & Restaurant takes Tuesday through Sunday, and Let's Go Karaoke and Karaoke Melody give the Doraville stretch two more sets of rooms for the weekend.

The corridor also holds the metro's strangest calendar and its latest weeknights. Mics Karaoke in Doraville opens Monday to Thursday only — the week everyone else takes off. And Impulse Lounge & Karaoke in Norcross runs every night of the week, going later than almost anywhere we have confirmed in the metro. Hanshin Pocha Usa, back in Duluth, opens its doors in the afternoon every day.

Midtown's two-night building

The doubling-up habit is not just a corridor thing. In Midtown, Mixx runs Karaoke Wednesdays, and Balls Deep Karaoke @The Atlanta Eagle takes Thursdays — same building, different night.

OTP, northwest
