Denver is an open-mic town at heart, and its rooms have organised themselves conveniently: South Havana Street in Aurora holds Gangnam GT, U&I BBQ and Family Karaoke, with the open-mic Whispers On Havana keeping a fourth address on the same street. One street, most of a format.

The second line runs north to south. Broadway collects five karaoke nights under one street name — #VYBE at 1027 North, Sobo 151 at 151 South, Broadway's Shot Spot in Englewood, then Dubb's Pub and alibi's in Littleton. And Lakewood, out west, keeps the steadiest calendar in the metro: five bars, and no night of the week it sits out.

Lakewood never goes quiet

West of the city, Lakewood runs the steadiest calendar in the metro. Antero Hall at Eck's Saloon has karaoke in the front bar seven nights a week, 9pm to 2am, and Tavern On 26th matches the streak — every night at 9. BC's Sports Pub covers six, all but Sunday, from 9pm.

Cleopatra's Bar on West Alameda takes Thursday through Sunday, and Greenfields Pool & Sports Bar sings on Sundays in the regular bar area. Between the five of them, there is no night of the week Lakewood sits out.

The rest of the always-on bench

Six metro venues run all seven nights. Beyond the Lakewood pair and the two on Havana, Rumours Karaoke Cafe on East 17th Avenue is the city centre's daily fixture — karaoke every day to 2am, with private rooms as well as the floor — and Park Centre Lounge in Westminster goes every night from 8pm to closing.

Two more come close. Rare Karaoke Cafe in Lone Tree runs six nights: weeknights open with line dancing from 6 to 9 and the karaoke follows, until midnight most nights and 2am on Friday and Saturday. Landero's Bar on South Federal covers Wednesday to Sunday, opens at 3pm, and lists its close as 1:50am — not 2.

Office hours, skate nights and Main Street

M18 Music Studio on South Galena keeps the strangest karaoke hours in Colorado: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Rooms on office time. Pitch Karaoke on Main Street in Louisville leans daytime too — its rooms open at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday and wrap by 9 on the quiet nights.

Roll is a once-a-month case: Denver's largest roller-skate party, every third Friday at the EXDO Event Center, with karaoke in the lounge hosted by VJ Aaron. And Star Bar on Larimer Street holds Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9pm.
