The shape of karaoke here is a room in a strip mall. Genting Karaoke in East San Jose opens in the afternoon every day of the week; Focus KTV holds the west side; Fremont's biggest names, Golden Lounge KTV and Encore KTV, are private rooms open every night. Of the venues open all seven nights, most are rooms rather than bars.

El Camino Real, room after room
One stretch of El Camino Real in Santa Clara carries three venues within a short drive of each other. Ema Karaoke bar runs weeknights, Monday to Friday. The Magie And Tiger opens every night, running later from Friday. Camino Karaoke is listed for both formats and does its singing at the weekend, with a cover charge.
Keep driving and the road keeps producing. Blue Max in Sunnyvale makes karaoke its specialty on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and Sodini's up in Redwood City runs Thursday to Saturday.
East side, and one room on office hours
East San Jose is where the rooms cluster. Genting is the seven-night anchor; Bay Karaoke nearby runs afternoons into the evening, Monday through Saturday; Diamond Studio Entertainment takes Thursday to Sunday evenings; Idol Karaoke, just east of downtown, opens mid-afternoon, Wednesday through Sunday.
And then there is Karaoke Center, which keeps hours nothing else on this page would recognize: daytime only, Monday to Wednesday. Karaoke as a daytime errand, done before dinner.
Fremont: rooms first
Fremont is where the big rooms are. Golden Lounge KTV and Encore KTV both run seven nights, Encore down in Warm Springs. Ultra Music Studio in Ardenwood runs seven nights as well. If the plan is singing in Fremont, the plan is mostly a room — Milk & Honey Cafe, with a Wednesday karaoke, is the exception.
