Karaoke inSt. Louis

In Florissant the karaoke starts at noon and is done by six, with painting on the side. The rest of St. Louis waits for dark and leans hard into the weekend — Friday and Saturday carry most of the calendar, on both banks of the Mississippi and both sides of the Missouri.

The city's anchor is Carson's Sports Pub in Soulard, five nights a week with a start time that creeps earlier as the week goes on: 9pm midweek, 8pm Friday, 7pm Saturday, and a 4pm Sunday session. Out west, Koreana in Chesterfield runs free karaoke in the main room every night it opens, Tuesday through Saturday, and asks nothing at the door for it.

From there the map fans out: a run of bars down South Broadway and into south county, a cluster across the Missouri in St Charles County, and one confirmed venue over the river in Illinois. Nearly all of it is sign-up-and-sing, and nearly all of it peaks Friday and Saturday.

Noon in Florissant

The Karaoke & Paint Spot in Florissant is exactly what the name promises: karaoke and painting under one roof, Tuesday through Sunday, from 12 noon to 6pm. It is the metro's only confirmed daytime-first venue, and it closes around the hour most of the bars on this page are still setting up.

If the afternoon appeals but Florissant is far, the nearest thing is Carson's in Soulard, whose Sunday session starts at 4pm and keeps going to close.

South, down Broadway

South city and south county hold the metro's densest run of weekly karaoke. On South Broadway, Hummel's Pub takes Monday and The Korner Bar takes Friday. The Haunt on Alaska Avenue sings on Thursdays, and River City Pub on Gravois runs four nights — Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Further out, Hessler's Pub on Tesson Ferry gives its weekends to the H-Bomb Lounge, which bills itself as home to south county's oldest running karaoke scene. Frailey's Southtown Grill does Fridays from 9:30, Dylan's in Arnold covers Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 1, and Detour in Imperial keeps tidy weekend hours: 8:30 to 12:30, Friday and Saturday.

West county, and one across the river

Wednesday is west county's night. Mike Duffy's in Kirkwood starts its karaoke at 10pm, and Syberg's on Dorsett runs the same night in Maryland Heights. Koreana on Olive Boulevard in Chesterfield stays the standing offer: free in the main room, five nights, Tuesday through Saturday.

And the metro does not stop at the state line. VFW Post 805 in O'Fallon, Illinois runs karaoke Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 1am — a veterans' hall doing weekend double duty on the east side of the river.
