The place to start is Little Saigon. Twelve confirmed venues sit in Garden Grove and Westminster alone — rooms rented by the hour for you and your crew, most of them open every night of the week and a few that keep going long after the bars have called last song. Karaoke Icool in Westminster is the one to know: seven nights a week, and among the last to let the night end.

The bars are everywhere else. An open-mic venue runs all seven nights in Huntington Beach, another in Buena Park, a third in Irvine. Fullerton hosts a show that calls itself the county's longest-running, and Anaheim's own hand stretches from a Wednesday-to-Sunday sign-up room to a karaoke studio that keeps its rooms busy into the small hours.

Where the night keeps going

Most rooms here wind down at the usual bar hour. A handful keep going far beyond it: Karaoke Icool in Westminster does it every night of the week; Kim Karaoke in Stanton runs late on weekdays; Don't Tell Papa stretches out on Friday and Saturday; and OK 501, a karaoke studio in Anaheim, runs every night of the week and goes latest of all at the weekend.

Royal karaoke and lounge in Westminster keeps its Friday and Saturday going late too. All five sit on the county's west side, which means the end of a long night has a fixed direction: toward Little Saigon. The app has each room's hours before you call the car.

Rooms or a stage

Little Saigon is mostly rooms, but not only rooms. In Westminster, Karaoke Icool rents private rooms every night, while Xo Karaoke sings to the room Monday to Saturday — the stage for anyone who wants strangers cheering the chorus.

Garden Grove gives the same choice between rooms. Don't Tell Papa is open every night, and Garden Grove Karaoke We keeps its own rooms going every night but Monday. Pick a format before parking, or don't — both are close.

Anaheim, Fullerton and one very long street

Anaheim proper spreads its nights around. Juke Joint Bar sings Thursday, Friday and Sunday; the Rio Vista Lounge runs karaoke in its Jack Fire lounge four nights a week; GameCraft Brewing saves it for Saturdays.

Fullerton is about tenure. BIGS runs Tuesday and Thursday and bills itself as Orange County's longest-running karaoke show; Sunset Lounge covers six nights. And in Placentia, The 80s Bar does exactly what it says every Sunday: eighties karaoke, free.

One pattern worth noticing: Brookhurst Street runs through this page more than any other road. The Kopa Room sits along it in Anaheim, Karaoke Nice and Hay Karaoke in Garden Grove, Royal in Westminster, and Ozzie's Sports Bar down in Fountain Valley, which takes Friday and Saturday.
