Start with Tokyo Kitty downtown: main-stage karaoke Tuesday through Sunday, private rooms alongside — a rarity here — and weekend room hours that begin in the afternoon. Nothing else in the city quite looks like it.

The other thirty-five confirmed venues are neighborhood bars, most running one to three nights, and most of them hosted — the same crew behind the mic week after week, with a sign-up sheet and a crowd that shows up for it. Between them every night of the week is covered, and a thick run of nights sits out on the west side.

The night is a standing date

Cincinnati keeps its karaoke on the calendar the way other cities keep a trivia night. PooR Michael'S Sports Bar on the north side runs a hosted karaoke night every Wednesday, and another pair on Friday and Saturday. The Oak Tavern in Oakley has its own named karaoke night every Monday, and it starts early — an evening you can sing through and still be home for bed.

The pattern holds at the edges: the Olde Village Tavern in West Chester sings Thursday and Friday, The Liberty Inn takes Friday and Saturday, DeCanter Lounge in Harrison holds Saturdays, and Putters Sports Grill in Liberty Township pairs Thursday college night with karaoke.

Small, but the week is covered

Outside Tokyo Kitty, Tostado's Grill lists karaoke Monday through Saturday, and Legends Bar & Grill in Hamilton runs Tuesday through Saturday. The Brass Rail in Norwood covers the weekend proper — Friday to Sunday — and The Lounge Bar holds Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for the east side. Silverton Cafe sings Thursdays.

Northside quietly has two venues close together on Hamilton Avenue. Tillie's Lounge takes Monday and Friday. Northside Tavern, just up the street, holds its karaoke night on Thursdays. Between the two of them, that corner of the city covers three nights of the week.
