The anchors are unalike on purpose. Club 21 in Germantown runs karaoke Tuesday through Sunday in a room named the Gatsby room. Miki's Karaoke Bar in Clifton makes karaoke available from open to close, Wednesday through Sunday. And the private rooms at Kawaii Candy & Karaoke wrap up in time for dinner.

Monday, Tuesday, and the Indiana bank
Syl's Lounge in the West End is the west side's metronome: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, every week. On Mondays it shares the job with Steinert's in downtown New Albany, across the river, where the karaoke runs Monday and Tuesday and costs nothing.
That makes Tuesday an Indiana-and-Kentucky affair — Steinert's at night, Kawaii's rooms in the afternoon, and the Gatsby room at Club 21 in between. Mac's Hideaway in New Albany rounds out the riverbank with Thursdays and Sundays.
Bardstown Road and the weekend
Bardstown Road splits the weekend neatly. More Shenanigan's, out in Buechel, takes every Friday. At the other end, a tap room and grill in the Highlands takes Saturday, when the mic is open and the crowd is ready to sing. Friday also brings karaoke to Donna Kaye Karaoke at Catfish Haven.
Saturday runs deep. Check's Cafe in Schnitzelburg sings it — the house's own verdict is that Saturdays are the best — and Mr. G's in Middletown holds both Thursday and Saturday nights. Add Club 21 and Miki's, and a Saturday here is one of the fullest nights on the calendar.
