The centre of gravity is the stretch of town between Ala Moana and Moiliili. South King Street alone holds four confirmed venues, with more a street either side on Beretania, Keeaumoku and Kapiolani — mostly lounges renting private rooms on the city's house clock of 5pm to 2am. That spec is so common here it amounts to a style.
The scene does not stop at town. Waipahu, Aiea and Pearl City keep rooms and bar nights of their own — two Waipahu venues share a single building on Pupupani Street — and Waikiki holds the latest hours in the city. Best of all, Honolulu sings in daylight: one venue opens its rooms at 8am, another at 11, two more at noon.

Waikiki sings latest
Nearly everything in Honolulu closes at 2am, so the exceptions are worth knowing by name. GS Studio on Lewers Street runs rooms nightly from 5pm — and to 4am on Friday and Saturday, the latest we have confirmed in the city. The other 4am is Juliana of Honolulu on Kapiolani Boulevard, a Thursday-to-Saturday nightclub built around a 23-foot stage.
Waikiki covers the open-mic side too. Wang Chung's on Koa Avenue runs open mic karaoke every night from 7pm, and Tapa's Waikiki, one floor up on Seaside Avenue, takes Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Karaoke before dark
Kaeo Studios in Waipahu opens its rooms at 8am. Hangry Mama in Pearl City starts at 11, and in town Mr. Ojisan runs an 11am-to-2pm lunch window Monday to Saturday.
Toma Karaoke on South Beretania runs noon to midnight daily and is BYOB and BYOF — you bring the drinks and the food, they bring the rooms. bliss Karaoke Lounge on Dillingham Boulevard also opens at noon, Monday through Saturday, and Encore Baraoke in Aiea is going by 2pm.
The 2am standard
The default Honolulu venue opens at 5pm, closes at 2am, and does it seven nights — and there is a whole bench built to exactly that spec. Cafe Gangnam on Keeaumoku rents rooms for parties, Club Moonflower on Sheridan Street has rooms seven days, Soju Bang on Kalakaua runs daily, and Nighthawk Too on Kapiolani Boulevard does the same from 6pm.
So the useful question here is rarely whether somewhere is open — eleven venues run all seven nights — but which room you want. Masil Pocha on Kapiolani has four of them, Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30pm.
