Karaoke inOklahoma City

Four venues here never take a night off: Cookies Bar on Western, Don Quixote's on Portland, the private rooms at Seoul Pocha on 23rd, and the Shiloh Club out in Midwest City. Everything else arranges itself around them, and on a Friday sixteen of the metro's nineteen confirmed venues are singing at once.

Start with the arithmetic: nineteen confirmed venues, and four of them run karaoke all seven nights. That is an unusually deep bench of everyday rooms for a metro this size, and it means the question here is rarely whether you can sing tonight — it is which kind of night you want.

The kinds differ properly. Cookies Bar is a nightly 8:30pm-to-2am bar on Western Avenue. Seoul Pocha is a Korean restaurant on Northwest 23rd with private rooms from 5pm. Downtown, Michael Murphy's Dueling Piano Bar stages Rockstar Karaoke three nights a week, and in Bricktown, Gong Crazy holds Sunday contests that are said to draw the better singers out.

The every-night four

Whatever day it is, these four are on. No schedule to check, ever.

  • Cookies Bar

    2304 N Western Ave · Western Ave

Seven days a week, 8:30pm to 2am — the earliest start of the three nightly open-mic bars, and the natural default when nothing has been planned.

  • Don Quixote's

    3030 N Portland Ave · Portland Ave

Seven nights on Portland Avenue, with the singing starting at 9:30pm every one of them.

  • Seoul Pocha

    1520 NW 23rd St · NW 23rd St

A Korean restaurant and bar with private karaoke rooms, open from 5pm every day. Dinner and the room are the same booking.

  • Shiloh Club

    8501 SE 15th St · Midwest City

Midwest City's cozy seven-nighter, with karaoke starting around 9pm every evening. The east side's standing answer.

Rooms, shows and a Sunday contest

Beyond Seoul Pocha, the private-room option is Moonlight K TV in Edmond — Thursday through Sunday from 7pm, until 2am on Friday and Saturday. And inside CityWalk in Bricktown sits Gong Crazy Karaoke, where Sunday night means a contest, and contests mean singers who came to win.

The showpiece is Michael Murphy's Dueling Piano Bar on East California Avenue, where Rockstar Karaoke runs Thursday through Saturday — doors at 7:30, show from 8:30 until 2am. Then there is The Boom on Northwest 39th, whose Tuesday karaoke sits in a weekly calendar that also includes Dinner with Kitty and a Sunday Gospel Brunch. Tuesday is the karaoke night; the rest is context, and very good context.

The rest of the week, sorted

Margarita Island on Northwest 10th sings six nights at 8pm — every night except Thursday, an omission it is entitled to. Midweek, Kat's Tavern runs Wednesday through Friday at 9, and Club Keno has karaoke with Paul from Wednesday through Saturday. Bamboo Room Bar in Midwest City takes Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and Bill's Steakhouse & Saloon pairs Tuesday with Friday.

Friday is the pile-up: sixteen of the nineteen venues. That is when Celebrity Club, Ghostrider's Saloon in Midwest City and Red Brick Bar down in Norman all take their single night, joining Blue Bayou on South Western and Montana Mining Club on South Shields, which both carry through Saturday. Henry Hudsons on Northwest 58th holds Saturdays. If you want a stage to yourself, come on a Sunday — the four everyday rooms, Margarita Island, Moonlight's rooms and Gong Crazy's contest are the whole field.
