The south-side KTV lounges are the part visitors miss. South Sacramento and Little Saigon carry most of the city's private-room karaoke, and the hours are the generous part: two of these lounges open before lunch and keep going into the small hours, every day.
Midtown is the other circuit: open-mic bars, no booking, mostly no cover, and Pine Cove Tavern running seven nights a week. Sacramento is also genuinely kind to the early crowd — a couple of its karaoke nights wrap up in time for a decent night's sleep, on purpose, which is rarer than it should be.

Karaoke before dark
Sacramento is unusually accommodating if you do not want to be out until closing time. Star KTV Lounge and Home & Bar both open before lunch, so an afternoon room is genuinely available seven days a week.
At the other end of the evening, The Shop Midtown runs an early Monday night and Brookside Restaurant and Bar out east does an early Wednesday, stretching a little longer if the room is busy enough to justify it. Both are over before the Midtown bars have really started.
The rest of the week
The remaining Sacramento karaoke is spread thin across the week, which means most nights have something within a short drive.
Firefly Lounge in Arden-Arcade runs Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday. Maple Room, also in Arden-Arcade, does Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Best Karaoke Bar & Restaurant in South Sacramento runs Wednesday to Sunday, and Blue Moon Cafe nearby starts late on Thursdays with a two-drink minimum.
For a single night: Y-Not Club in Elk Grove runs Thursdays, Faces in Midtown does Mondays and a Thursday with free admission, and Streets Pub and Grub in Midtown takes Wednesday and Friday.
