San Diego splits its karaoke between a corridor of rooms in Kearny Mesa and a walkable run of sign-up bars downtown, and the night mostly plans itself from there.

Convoy Street is the city's karaoke corridor: five confirmed venues along it, mostly private rooms rented by the hour for you and your crew. It is also where the night runs longest — on a weekend the rooms here keep going well after the downtown bars have gone quiet.
The Gaslamp Quarter works the other way: sign-up bars where you put your name down and sing to the room, walkable end to end, so one night can take in two or three stages. Beyond the two districts sits a wide ring of neighborhood bars, out to La Mesa and El Cajon, and a handful of them run karaoke every night of the week.

Where the late hours are
San Diego winds down earlier than most cities its size, and downtown karaoke follows suit — Werewolf is among the first to wrap up, with the Gaslamplighter and the Lamplighter not far behind.
Convoy Street is the exception. Bobos and Jin Music Studios both keep their rooms going deep into Friday and Saturday nights, well after the downtown bars. If the night needs to keep going, it needs to go to Kearny Mesa, and the app has each room's hours before you call the car.
The rest of the week
Away from the two districts, San Diego karaoke is a bar circuit spread across the mesas and out into East County, mostly one to three nights a week. Two East County bars break that pattern: The Hills Pub in La Mesa and Blarney Stone Pub in El Cajon both run karaoke every night of the week, and so does JT's Pub & Grill in Grantville.
Peter D's in Clairemont does Friday through Monday. Flicks in Hillcrest takes Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and Pal Joey's in Allied Gardens runs Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Two are worth knowing for being unlike the rest. Nha Trang in City Heights is a Vietnamese karaoke bar that gets going early, Thursday through Sunday. Chiquibaby's, south of downtown, runs karaoke nights on Monday and Thursday and a baile karaoke on Saturdays.
