KaraokeList

Terms of Use

Effective October 3, 2026 · Applies to KaraokeList for iPhone and Android, and this website

The short version

  • KaraokeList is an app for remembering the songs you can sing and deciding what to sing next. Use it for that, and be decent to other singers.
  • Most of it works with no account. An account is needed for the features that run on our servers, and to buy.
  • Everything you can buy is a one-time purchase. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. The App Store or Google Play takes the payment and handles refunds.
  • Suggestions are generated automatically and can be wrong. They are a nudge, not a promise, and you are the one holding the microphone.
  • Your stage name, and anything you add to the karaoke map, is seen by other singers. Keep it clean and keep it true.
  • You can leave any time: delete your account from inside the app, or use the deletion page.

1. Who this is from, and what you are agreeing to

KaraokeList is an iPhone and Android app made by Michael Jones, an independent developer. In these terms, “I” and “me” mean him. By installing or using the app or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. Questions go to support@karaokelist.app; I read that address myself.

On iPhone, Apple’s standard end user license agreement (the “Standard EULA”) also applies to the app. Where it and these terms differ on how the app itself is licensed, Apple’s governs. How I handle your information is in the privacy policy, which is part of the deal.

2. Who can use it

KaraokeList is made for adults who go to bars. It is not intended for anyone under 13, and if the law where you live sets an older age for agreeing to terms like these, you need to be at least that old. You are responsible for your own device, your own sign-in, and anything done through your account.

3. What the app is

KaraokeList helps you keep a list of the songs you can sing, log the nights you sing them, and get ideas for what to sing next. I give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your own devices for your own use. You may not copy it, reverse engineer it, resell it, or use it to build a competing service, except where the law says you may.

The app is provided as it is. I will do my best to keep it working, but features can change, pause or end, and the parts that run on a server need a connection. Your setlist and your log work with no network at all.

4. Accounts

You do not need an account to keep a setlist, log a sing, paste in a list, identify a song or browse the karaoke map. You need one to sync your setlist, set a stage name, use the features that run on our suggestion service, contribute to the map, use invites, sync an Apple Music playlist, and buy. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Give accurate details, keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell me if you think someone else has got in.

5. Suggestions, song lookups and reads

Song suggestions, “What was that song?” lookups and written Voice Print reads are generated automatically from the songs and answers you give the app. They can be wrong, repetitive or out of date. A suggested song might be too high, too low, missing from your bar’s book, or just not a good idea in that room. Treat them as ideas. I make no promise that a song is available at any venue, or that you will sing it well.

The app shows no lyrics. Where it links out to YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, a lyrics search or a venue’s website, those services are not mine and their own terms and policies apply. Song titles, artists, artwork and trademarks belong to their owners.

6. What you can buy

Some features come with a small allowance of free uses. A use is a round of picks, a song lookup, or a Voice Print read. When the free ones run out you can buy more. Everything on sale is a one-time purchase:

Nothing renews, nothing is billed again, and there is nothing to cancel. Prices are shown in the app, in your store’s currency, before you buy. A purchase is made with Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms, and is tied to that store account. You can bring back the Backstage pass and the setlist unlock on a new phone with Restore purchases.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies, not by me. If something went wrong with a purchase that you cannot sort out with the store, write to me and I will look into it. If your account is deleted, unused uses go with it. Free uses, and uses from an invite or a code, have no cash value.

I may change what the free tier includes and what products cost going forward. That never takes away something you have already bought.

7. Invites and partner codes

You can share an invite link, and you can enter a friend’s invite code or a code from a partner (such as a karaoke host or company). A code may give you free uses; the app shows what it gives when you enter it. Codes are for real people on their own phones: one invite reward per phone, no making accounts to farm rewards, no selling or trading codes. I can refuse or withdraw a code or its uses if it looks like it is being gamed, and I can change or end a code program. Sharing a code or link is your choice, and nothing is sent to anyone unless you send it.

8. Your stage name, the karaoke map, and your conduct

A stage name is free text and is not unique or reserved: two singers can share one, and having one is not a claim to it. Where other singers see it — in the credits on the karaoke map, and to the one friend an invite links you with — is set out in the privacy policy.

Anything you put in front of other people — a stage name, a venue you add, a correction, a confirmation, a vote, a report — is your content. You keep ownership of it. You give me a free, worldwide license to store, display and use it to run the app and the map, including after you leave: a bar’s karaoke night is a fact about the bar, other people rely on it, and it stays, though your stage name comes off it when you delete your account. You promise that what you add is yours to share and is true to the best of your knowledge.

Please do not:

I may remove content, change a stage name, limit a feature, or suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, usually with a warning where that is sensible and without one where it is not. If you spot a mistake on the map, you can report it from inside the app, or write to me.

9. Your data

Your setlist, your sings and your notes are yours. The privacy policy says what is stored, what is sent to other companies to run the app, and what is never done. In short: nothing is sold, there are no ads, and nothing about you leaves your phone without you choosing it.

10. Ending things, and deleting your account

You can stop using KaraokeList whenever you like. You can delete your account from inside the app, in Settings, or ask me to delete your account or just your data on the deletion page, which also works if you have already uninstalled. Deleting an account is immediate and cannot be undone, and unused uses are lost with it. Purchases are one-time, so there is nothing to cancel; removing the app from your phone does not by itself close your account.

I can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if the law requires it. If I stop running the service for any other reason, I will say so in the app where I can. The parts of these terms that by their nature should keep applying — your content license for what is on the shared map, the disclaimers, the limits on liability and the governing law — do.

11. No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, KaraokeList and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or fit for a particular purpose. Venue information on the map comes from other singers and may be out of date: a bar can change its karaoke night or close. Check before you go. Please drink responsibly and get home safely.

12. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, lost data or lost songs, arising from your use of the app or this website. Signing in so your setlist syncs is the way to keep it safe if you lose your phone. My total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid me through the app in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50. Some places do not allow some of these limits, and there they apply only as far as the law lets them. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13. Third parties

Apple, Google, the app stores, the sign-in providers, Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify and others are separate companies with their own terms. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and are not responsible for it or for any claim about it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of the iPhone side of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the courts there. If you are a consumer, you keep any rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of where you live, including the right to go to your local courts. Before anything formal, please write to me first; most things can be sorted out with an email.

15. Changes

I may update these terms, and the date at the top changes with them. If a change is a material one, you will be told inside the app before it takes effect. If you carry on using KaraokeList after a change, you accept it; if you do not, you can delete your account and stop.

16. Contact
