Karaoke inAustin
Austin's karaoke boxes line the Burnet–Anderson–North Lamar grid, one of them open to 4am on Fridays. Downtown answers with named nights — a national karaoke league, a Saturday competition with prize money — and four bars sing every night of the week.
The private rooms cluster tightly, all of them north of downtown: Austin Karaoke on North Lamar, Banjoo on Burnet Road, Hi Tunes on Anderson Lane and Dance Dance Karaoke on Research Boulevard, within a few miles of each other. One rents rooms for parties of five to twenty; one runs Saturdays from 2pm; one keeps going to 4am on Fridays.
The bars hold up the other half. Four run karaoke every night of the week, and downtown does it as an event: a national league on Wednesdays, prize money on Saturdays, a Thursday called Planet Fabulous.

Leagues, prizes and Planet Fabulous
Downtown does karaoke as an event rather than a venue. The Iron Bear on West 6th runs Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday — the Thursday being Planet Fabulous Karaoke with Murrah, 10pm to close. Around the corner on West 4th, Rain takes Mondays from 10pm, and on Wednesday evenings hosts the National Karaoke League, which is a real thing that exists. Sledge Hammer On Sixth holds Saturday karaoke competitions with no entry fee and a $75 prize.
Hosts get billing elsewhere too. La Palapa on 290 East runs karaoke with P.D.M. on Friday and Saturday, 8 to midnight, and at The Stardust Club on Manchaca, Monday and Wednesday are karaoke nights with Cal spinning on Thursdays.
Five and six nights, without the rooms
Between the nightly four and the single-nighters sits a band of bars doing most of the week. Showpony on Tinnin Ford Road runs six nights at 9pm. The Water Tank on McNeil Drive does five, Wednesday through Sunday, and Broadway Sing-Along Bar on Shady Lane goes Wednesday to Saturday from 9pm. The Common Interest on Burnet Road is the one venue doing both formats — main-stage karaoke from 8pm Thursday through Sunday, from 7pm on Fridays.
Two are their own thing entirely: Amity's Coffee and Karaoke near campus runs every Thursday at 10pm with a two-drink minimum, and DK Sushi on South 1st adds karaoke to the sushi on Mondays, 21 and over.
Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown
The suburbs hold real fixtures rather than overflow. Pardners in Round Rock runs five nights, Thursday through Monday, 9pm to 1am — more nights than anything else outside the city. Pflugerville has two: Last Call on Grand Avenue Parkway takes Thursday to Saturday, and Red Rooster's on Pecan Street does Wednesdays and Thursdays, keeping live music for Tuesday and Friday.
Georgetown splits its week politely: Roots Bistro on West 8th runs Tuesdays from 7 to 10pm — the earliest finish in this guide — and The V Canteen hosts Freedom Karaoke Night on Saturdays from 7pm. Furthest out, Peggy's Bar in Cedar Creek takes Saturday nights.
