Karaoke inMiami

Miami's karaoke is bigger than Miami: thirty-three confirmed venues across eleven municipalities, from Brickell to Hollywood to the Beach. And a good share of the scene sings in Spanish, which is exactly as it should be here.

The city proper holds eleven confirmed venues; the metro holds thirty-three, spread across eleven municipalities. Hollywood alone carries seven — a karaoke town in its own right — and Miami Beach puts three on Collins Avenue within eight blocks of each other. Treat the map as one scene and the week opens right up.

The private rooms are spread the same generous way, one to a neighbourhood: Wynwood, downtown, Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Pines. So the default night here is a bar with a host and a queue. And on a Wednesday in Brickell or a Saturday in Miami Springs, that bar may well be running in Spanish.

4 confirmed venues

Miami and the Beach

The city's own venues split between the mainland neighbourhoods and Collins Avenue across the bay.

  • Sweet Caroline

    1111 SW 1st Ave · Brickell

Karaoke runs every night. The city's standing answer — no booking, no calendar, just turn up.

  • Sweet Caroline Wynwood

    2445 N Miami Ave · Wynwood

The Wynwood outpost runs Wednesday to Saturday, 7pm to 3am, and gives its nights themes — an emo karaoke, a ladies' night, a Friday karaoke party.

  • Tokyo Club

1000 Collins Ave · Miami Beach

Karaoke from 5pm to midnight, six nights a week — the early option on Collins Avenue.

  • Liquor Lounge

1560 Collins Ave · Miami Beach

Tuesday to Thursday, 11pm to 4am — the latest close we have confirmed in the metro, kept on the quietest nights of the week.

Hollywood: the second scene

Seven confirmed venues make Hollywood the metro's other karaoke town, and its week runs deeper than one night.

  • BLEAF

    1808 S Young Cir · Hollywood

Karaoke starts at 8:30pm nightly on Young Circle. Hollywood's answer to Sweet Caroline: open every night, no planning required.

  • Octopus Garden

    1942 Hollywood Blvd · Hollywood

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday nights on Hollywood Boulevard — four nights, most of a week.

  • Boston Johnny's

    2120 N Dixie Hwy · Hollywood

Karaoke at the tiki bar: Thursday and Saturday 7 to 11pm, Friday 8 to midnight, with SingIt Karaoke hosting the Saturday.

  • Cloud 9

    7126 Stirling Rd · Hollywood

Sunday karaoke from 9pm to 1am, with free pool thrown in — one of the metro's better Sunday plans.

The rooms, scattered

There is no karaoke-box corridor here. The private rooms sit one to a neighbourhood: 1-800-Lucky in Wynwood has rooms going every day of the week, with songs from a wide spread of genres, and GD Lounge & Karaoke on Biscayne Boulevard downtown holds its karaoke night on Fridays, with a cover charge.

The other two are north of the city. Plugin Karaoke at Hallandale Beach runs Thursday through Sunday, to 2am on Friday and Saturday. And Leafy in Pembroke Pines opens at noon and is done by 10 or 11pm, closed Tuesdays — rooms in the afternoon are rare anywhere, and Leafy is the metro's daytime option.

Canta y no llores

A real share of this metro's karaoke runs in Spanish. The plainest statement of it is Canta! No Llores — sing, don't cry — a Wednesday night in Brickell from 7pm, with food, cocktails and hookah alongside the singing.

Patio Tipico in Miami Springs hosts Spanish karaoke on weekends, Saturdays above all. Makoncha in West Miami takes Thursdays from 8pm to midnight, and El ceibeño on NW 17th Avenue pairs karaoke with live music at the weekend.

The rest of the map

West and south, the week is single nights, some with names attached. The Taurus in Coconut Grove has Rob the Rum Guy leading karaoke every Wednesday, 9pm to 1am. Seven Seas Bar on SW 57th Avenue goes Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10pm, and Eddie's Place far out on SW 8th Street sings every Tuesday and Friday, plus the first Saturday of the month.

On the Beach, Mickey Burkes runs Local Love Karaoke Mondays with DJ A-BEATS, 10pm to 2am, and Karaoke Sundays at Maxines on Collins Avenue is exactly what its name says. Back in Hollywood, touchthemictuesdays on Greene Street opens its doors at 8pm, and Lima Peru hosts karaoke nights on the Broadwalk with Mario as the MC. The metro's northern edge is Marina 84 in Fort Lauderdale, Thursdays 8pm to midnight.
