The Valley's scene is shaped like the Valley: wide, and all the better for it. More than seventy confirmed venues spread across ten cities, with Mesa holding thirteen of them — more than any other suburb — and Scottsdale not far behind. Eight venues run karaoke all seven nights, from a North Phoenix comedy bar to a Glendale sports grill's side lounge.

Rooms here are the specialist option. Exactly five venues in the metro rent private karaoke rooms, four of them east of Phoenix proper in Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale and one out west in Glendale — six of the rooms are luxury suites, and one set keeps going deepest into Friday and Saturday nights. Everywhere else, you take the mic in front of the bar, which is exactly how the Valley seems to like it.

Rent-a-room karaoke is rare here. These five are the metro's entire confirmed stock, and all but one are east of Phoenix itself.

A metro that sings to the room

The split here is lopsided: all but five of the more than seventy confirmed venues are open-mic, sign-up-and-sing bars. Three more nightly places round out the always-open bench — AiNT NICKS TAVERN in west Phoenix runs seven nights, The Rock in Phoenix sings every night too, and Papa T's Darkside Show does karaoke every single night of the week in North Phoenix, in the same building as Marcel's, which takes Thursday through Sunday.

There is even a small chain: 414 Pub Pizza & Karaoke runs karaoke six nights, Tuesday through Sunday, at both of its locations — one in Mesa, one in downtown Tempe.

Mesa carries the East Valley

Mesa's thirteen confirmed venues make it the metro's second city of karaoke. Kay's Place runs Thursday through Sunday, Hambone Sports Bar and Grill near downtown Mesa takes Thursday and Saturday, and September's Bar covers Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The odd one out is Painted Mountain Steak House, where Friday and Saturday karaoke is an early-evening affair — finished before most of the Valley has started.

Chandler adds its own handful: Sawtooth Bar & Grill runs Thursday to Sunday, The 480 Bar does Thursday and the weekend, and Jolie's Place pairs its Tuesday karaoke with $2 street tacos.

The edges of the week

Scottsdale past the nightly pair: Giligin's takes Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with a late start, El Dorado Bar & Grill runs Tuesday through Friday, starting early on Wednesdays, and 92nd Street Cafe & Bar holds Friday and Saturday.

And the metro keeps a few genuine outliers. Karaoke Star in north-east Phoenix is a smoke-free, alcohol-free performance venue with karaoke every Saturday. Loft Again Bar & Grill runs Sunday and Monday, a friendly early-week room in North Phoenix. Out west, Enoch's Sports Lounge in Peoria sings Friday to Sunday, to a closing time so specific it's worth checking in the app.

Does Phoenix have private karaoke rooms?

Five venues, four of them east of the city: August Karaoke Box in Tempe (daily, with the earliest doors), YZ's Karaoke Cafe in Mesa (Wednesday to Sunday), Blind Dragon in Scottsdale (six suites, Thursday to Saturday), Donks Karaoke in west Mesa, and After Hourz out west in Glendale (Thursday to Sunday). How late does karaoke go in Phoenix?

Most of the Valley keeps bar hours. The exception is YZ's Karaoke Cafe in Mesa, where the rooms keep going on Friday and Saturday long after the bars have closed — the latest we have confirmed in the Valley. The KaraokeList app has each venue's hours.

Plenty.
